Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is an action-adventure video game that is based on the fifth installment of the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling and the film of the same name.

Description

In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry returns for his fifth year of study at Hogwarts and discovers that much of the wizarding community has been denied the truth about the teenager’s recent encounter with the evil Lord Voldemort. Meeting secretly with a small group of students who name themselves “Dumbledore’s Army,” Harry teaches them how to defend themselves against the Dark Arts, preparing the courageous young wizards for the extraordinary battle that lies ahead.

With the ability to play multiple characters, including Harry Potter, Dumbledore and Sirius Black, the videogame of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix offers fans the opportunity to wield a wand, explore all around Hogwarts, and experience one of the most exciting and dangerous years in the life of the Boy Who Lived.

Gameplay

The game presents the player with a large part of the Harry Potter universe, combining the movie blueprints, J.K. Rowling’s drawings and books’ descriptions to recreate known places, including the Ministry of Magic, Grimmauld Place and Little Whinging. As well as the main missions, and as part of the new sandbox style of playing, players can explore Hogwarts and interact with objects, using magical spells to earn Discovery points. One can duel Slytherins in the Entrance Courtyard, Paved Courtyard, and specific floor corridors. One can also duel throughout the story. Most of them are played as Harry. Nevertheless, near the end, one will play as Sirius Black and Dumbledore in different duels.

Oblivion (PSP) was a planned Elder ScrollsTravels game to be released around a year after TES IV: Oblivion. It would have been the fifth mobile game. It was planned to lack the free-roaming gameplay usually associated with the Elder Scrolls series. According to executive producer Todd Howard, the game would have featured ten large levels that look much like areas in the console versions, but more concentrated. Eighteen out of the twenty-one skills from Oblivion were present. The controls were influenced by Metroid Prime. 'The analog stick will allow you to move forward, backward, and turn sideways. Holding L will allow you to strafe, and holding R will let you look around the area from your character's perspective.'

The game was announced in the November 2006 edition of the Official PlayStation Magazine, which stated that, compared to the console versions, it was planned to be 'a very different game with a different story line... it has the experience of the dungeon romp. It doesn't have wide-open, wander-the-landscape kind of stuff'. The game was originally available for pre-order from several retailers, including GameStop, and was planned to be shipped in April 2007. In November 2007 the deposits were returned to those who had pre-ordered, making it look like the game had been canceled. In January 2008, the game appeared on listings again, including Amazon. It was set for release on June 30, 2008. The price was listed at $39.99 on Amazon, with other stores selling it for $10 more. However, the game was never released. There has never been any official reason given for its cancellation or even official confirmation that it was canceled. Bethesda Softworks has declined to speak on the matter, and it is rumored that Climax Studios, the outsourced developers of the game, ran into difficulties.

On May 17, 2016, footage as well as copies of beta builds of the game from June 2006 and January 2007 were leaked. The footage was taken down by ZeniMax, but restored shortly after.
